Given the interest a few weeks back on my post “An outing in the Ahuriri Valley on Search and Rescue work“, I thought I’d post a few images of the larger area.
These maybe of interest to Dave Palmer’s friends, and given the tributes left on that post, even though I never knew him it’s a wee way of honouring him as a fellow lover of the area.

As far as know Dave left the saddle in the foreground and descended down to the Ahuriri using the ridge on the right…

About this Like Minds Blog Donald Lousley
Concepts on how New Zealand landscape photography and fine art can be used to stimulate our imaginations to make the world a better and more gentle place. With photos, and some words, we explore with nomadic tendencies and inherited wizardry, all that is New Zealand, and it did not all begin with Lord of the Rings! A lovely place, Donald, but obviously also a dangerous one.
Hi Shirley
Yes I love this valley – spent much of my formative years wandering it, as it’s so quick to access, and yet relatively unknown.
Yes, it can be deadly, but it’s really “us” that get us into trouble. The hills are neither for or against us, but don’t suffer foolish actions too well.
Cheers

Hi Donald, Wonderful and such sharp photos. Tramped up there 45 years ago, or was it more. Appreciate your blog when I can find time in these increasingly busy days.
Hi Bob, thanks for popping by.
You’ll just have to limit the hob-nobbing in FaceBook maybe [wink].
Yes, a special valley for us Otago’ites!
Cheers
Donald
